Hello there!
We are glad you're here. We are glad we're here! Brighter Horizons Equine has gone through several trips around the sun to get where we are today, and we couldn't have done it without our community. We began as Bright Horizons Therapeutic Riding Center back in 2004, as our own established nonprofit. Five instructors and two executive directors later, we merged with a larger local nonprofit in 2022. When our umbrella organization closed in early 2025, we found ourselves at a crossroads, and decided we couldn't give up on our herd, or our humans. With the help of one incredible attorney, a calm southern mastermind, an inspiring physician and his big hearted wife, a couple of very kind landlords, some amazingly generous neighbors, and one quite small barn cat, we have established independent nonprofit status once again.
We believe Winston Churchill was absolutely right (although not at all inclusive) when he said "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." We believe horses are good for everybody, and we aim to cultivate a calm, kind, and compassionate barn environment where all are welcome. That being said, we believe the inside of a horse is just as important to learn about, so don't be surprised if your instructor talks about skeletal and muscular anatomy, nutrition, foot health, stall cleaning or saddle fit. One of the most beautiful things about horses, as in life, is there's always more to learn.
